         B1/300/100 - Frank
still in handcuffs, trying to get them off. There's a clinking of metal.

        REED'S BEDROOM -
          DAY

           FRANK
Goddamn it, Chantal ... When I get out of these things...

         Frank is wrestling
with the cuffs, we hear the door opening...

           FRANK (CONT)
            Shit!
           CHANTAL
How pathetic, Hawke Industries' head of security can't get the handcuffs
off, even with the key in his pocket. Here.....let an expert help
            you....

         She laughs, releasing
          him.

          FRANK (straightening
            his clothes)
That wasn't funny... this time you went too...

         The door opens,
          change in tone.

           FRANK (CONT)
Good afternoon sir. Just doing a last security check around the house.
           REED
Make sure security is air tight downstairs. We don't want reporters
            looking in the windows.
           FRANK
            Yes, sir.
           REED
Chantal, get me the itinerary for the Florida and Mid West events.
           CHANTAL
Right away, sir. Also the President's called twice.
          REED
No doubt. Let me know when Chloe arrives.

         Reed exits, door
          closes.

          CHANTAL (tone
            change)
And you Franky boy seem to be in need of additional training. I'll
            see you in my office.

and Lara arrive in the midst of an argument
        FOYER - DAY - DAY
1 ZACK and LARA, carrying OVERNIGHT BAGS, enter the FOYER and head toward
the elevator. ZACHARY HAWKE is Reed's only son and he's a little too
tightly wrapped for his own good. LARA, his wife, is in her late twenties,
fresh-faced and normally optimistic. But it's clear that this couple
has arrived in the midst of an argument.

           LARA
Why do you continue to do this to yourself...
           ZACK
Look, we're not going into this again. I told you how important this
weekend is to me. We're staying here and that's it.

         Preoccupied, ZACK
goes to the elevator and punches the button. It doesn't respond.

           ZACK (turns and
            sighs, trying)
Look...Lara, please just let me deal with my father--
           FRANK'S VOICE
            (over the intercom)
Mr. Hawke. Can I help you?

         ZACK's attention
          shifts back to the elevator.

           ZACK
What the hell is with the elevator, Frank?
           FRANK'S VOICE
            (cordial in an androgynous way)
I'm sorry Mr. Hawke, your father's orders.
           LARA
Come on Honey, you can see your father later.
           ZACK (agitated)
Look, Lara, will you please just go upstairs and unpack.

         He turns back to
          the elevator. LARA
          walks off.

           ZACK
            Open up, Frank.
          FRANK'S VOICE
I'm afraid Mr. Hawke doesn't want to be disturbed at the moment. He
asked me to have all appointments scheduled through Chantal.
           ZACK
Schedule an appointment? That son of a bitch!...Laura, wait up.

         He storms off.

--Shut up! Don't you dare talk to me that way.
           FRANK (feebly
            protesting)
            Look I only meant--
          CHANTAL (noise
            of leather swish)
            IS THAT CLEAR!
           FRANK (gasping)
            Yes........

           FRANK
            You are.
           CHANTAL
            Good.....now

         Sound of a buzzer,
it's Zack and Lara by the elevator.

          CHANTAL Shit,
            Answer that!
           FRANK
Yes, ma'am.... (tone change) Mr. Hawke. Can I help you?

         MARGARET'S OFFICE
          AND BEDROOM - DAY - DAY 1

        Margaret in Her Office

         MARGARET enters
with TWO HAT BOXES and places them on the BED. She goes to the SPEAKER
PHONE on her DESK and hits the button.

           FRANK (VO)
            Yes?
           MARGARET (into
            phone, tersely)
            Get me the caterer.

        She begins opening
the boxes to reveal a collection of HATS. Trying one on, she models
it in a full-length mirror--doesn't like it. MONSIEUR HENRI's voice
is heard over the speaker phone.

           MONSIEUR HENRI
            (VO)
            Hello? Henri's Catering.

         MARGARET changes
          hats.

           MARGARET
Ah, Monsieur Henri. Correct me if I'm wrong...but did I not order
the premium select petite Beluga in Waterford crystal?
          MONSIEUR HENRI
            (VO)
Oh, no, you must have a misunderstanding. I'm sorry but you clearly
            said that you must have--
          MARGARET (breaks
            him off)
No. There is no misunderstanding. You misunderstood.

         She changes hats.
It's a cute little pink pillbox number with black trim. Something Jackie
Kennedy would have worn thirty years ago. The PRICE TAG DANGLES IN FRONT
OF HER FACE. With her ANTIQUE SHEARS, she snips off the tag.

           MONSIEUR HENRI
            (VO)
Uh, uh, uh, but of course madame... uh we'll be there right away--

          MARGARET (breaks
            him off)
Get me the petite caviar...or you and your family will be back on
the boat to that rat infested country where I found you. Get me the
petite caviar...or you and your family will be back on the boat to
that rat infested country where I first had the misfortune to find
            you.
          MONSIEUR HENRI
            (VO)
We'll get you the caviar there right away. Maybe perhaps we could
add in a few crepes for you or sometimes we could do a little quiche
or maybe a very nice pate, something--

        She punches the
speaker phone button, then admires herself in the mirror. This one appeals
          to her.

          MARGARET
Yes. I think this will do nicely for the inauguration in January.

         Now she practices
her curtsies with the awkward bend of an over-the-hill ballerina and
          exits.
